“Future Narratives for Planet Earth” aims to create new narratives to change our mindset concerning the RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMANS AND NATURE. It also aims to use art for re-embracing the future as a space of possibility and as a practice.

The Project

The patriarchal, Eurocentric and dichotomous mindset of the past two centuries, from which imperialism, colonialism and the idea of the human species’ boundless superiority (or at least that of Western elites) have brought our planet to the brink of collapse.

Human beings became the most important factor for biological, geological and atmospheric processes on Earth and have also become the background of the climate catastrophe.

“Humans have to acknowledge that we have neither existed separately from nor above others because no species can survive on its own”

Donna Haraway

“The climate crisis is rooted in the idea of the right to exploit other humans and animals. And that we see people and nature as commodities.”

 Greta Thunberg

Nowadays, environmental challenges have a fundamental effect on the relationship between HUMANS and NATURE. The need to raise awareness about these challenges has now become urgent. In such a context, can artistic languages have a role in changing our mindset and helping the planet?

“Future Narratives for Planet Earth” intends to use the broad experience of the partnership comprising of cultural associations, theatres and non governmental organisations in the field of socially engaged art and artistic projects to address the topic of climate catastrophe interconnecting their unique skills on an international level. The project’s main aim is to re-embrace the future as a space full of possibilities.

The project partnership is formed by 7 organisations from different European countries:
