Het Nieuwstedelijk

Het Niewstedelijk is the city theater of Leuven, Hasselt, and Genk. It is an artist-run theater house that shapes the city and society of tomorrow. We tell life stories here and now. We give sound to these stories and discuss them. From the city, we address and focus on the rest of the world.
Text, theater, music, audio & debate form the core of our artistic work. We shape this through new creations around contemporary and social themes, community-based projects, the equal combo of spoken text & live music, the sustainable development of our repertoire, supporting young talent, and building a community with our audience.
Het nieuwstedelijk works on the axis Leuven, Hasselt & Genk with 3 different realities and audiences. We play a cloud city of 1.9 million people, from Brussels to Maastricht. Het nieuwstedelijk plays in theaters and on location, travels throughout Flanders, and thinks and works internationally.
Het nieuwstedelijk stands for connection, cooperation & entrepreneurship. Based on an integral vision, we connect artists, audiences, organisation, social & financial support. Looking to the future. Nieuwstedelijk.
